NORRINE BAILEY SPENCER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
The Virginia Network advances women by providing programs that build professional networks and support the development of women in all sectors of higher education in the Commonwealth. To help achieve these goals, the Executive Board of the Virginia Network invites applications for the Norrine Bailey Spencer Scholarship.

The Norrine Bailey Spencer Scholarship is awarded to a participant in the Virginia Network’s Senior Leadership Seminar. Norrine Bailey Spencer, an administrator at Virginia Tech for thirty years, served on the Network’s Executive Board from 1988 to 2008. As one of the earliest members of the Network board, Norrine contributed greatly to the organizational wisdom—and glue—that has held the board together over the past twenty years, and she gave it a solid foundation on which we continue to build. Norrine mentored dozens of women through the Network, but her reach went far beyond this organization to touch the lives of many others through her work in civic, college, and religious organizations. Upon her departure from the board in 2008, Norrine was presented the gift of this named scholarship, recognizing and celebrating her passion for the Virginia Network’s mission in general and her devotion to the Senior Leadership Seminar program in particular.

The Norrine Bailey Spencer Scholarship will be awarded to one confirmed participant in the Senior Leadership Seminar. The amount of the award will cover the costs for one night of lodging at each of the three sessions of the Senior Leadership Seminar. Lodging must be at the Senior Leadership Seminar hotel. The award does not extend to covering other costs associated with participating in the Senior Leadership Seminar.
